Overview

Nestled in the heart of Paris’s 17th arrondissement, Restaurant Chez Lucette is a rare jewel that captures the true essence of French home cooking. Located at 43 Rue de La Jonquière, this charming eatery offers more than just a meal—it provides a warm, genuine dining experience that feels like stepping into a Parisian kitchen.

The restaurant’s hallmark is its focus on quality and authenticity. The star of the menu, Poulet Fermier Avec Pommes de Terre Rissolées, showcases the mastery behind simple, rustic French cuisine. The farm-raised chicken is tender and flavorful, paired perfectly with golden, crispy potatoes that carry the unmistakable charm of a dish made with care and tradition. Each plate arrives fresh from the intimate kitchen owned by the proprietors, where recipes are lovingly prepared from scratch.

The space itself exudes an inviting atmosphere. Guests enter through a quaint blue facade adorned with delicate white lace curtains, continuing inside to find cozy tables set with pale pink tablecloths and lace doilies. This careful attention to detail creates a snug environment ideal for close conversations, whether with friends, family, or newfound acquaintances. It’s a setting that encourages lingering over wine, stories, and shared appreciation of the night’s fare.

Chez Lucette appeals to those seeking an authentic taste of Paris without the typical tourist bustle. The dining experience is intimate and personal, further enhanced by the engaging presence of the husband-and-wife team who run the place. Particularly memorable are the lively exchanges with Monsieur Bernhard, whose charming storytelling and humor add a unique layer to the evening. Even if your French isn’t perfect, hospitality here bridges any language gap, embracing diners from all walks of life.

Reviews from patrons reflect a deep appreciation for the honest simplicity of the food and the heartfelt care behind it. Many describe it as a hidden gem, where every dish feels like a lovingly prepared home-cooked meal, and the dessert—especially the flan—is celebrated as exceptional. The overall experience balances comfort and culinary excellence, making it a go-to spot for both locals and visitors craving genuine French flavors in an intimate setting.

While accepting only cash is a small detail to note, it complements the restaurant’s old-world charm and their dedication to tradition. For those searching for an unpretentious, memorable night in Paris that honors true French cuisine and culture, Restaurant Chez Lucette is a must-visit destination.

A visit to Chez Lucette is not simply a visit to a good Parisian restaurant but a complete dining experience. The unwritten menu consists of a few, select dishes that are prepared fresh, to order, and with the authentic taste of “home cooking”. You should also visit the restaurant for the entertaining conversation with the proprietors (particularly Monsieur Bernhard). You might miss some things if your French is weak but I’m sure you will be made to feel welcome no matter what language you speak. In short, you MUST visit Chez Lucette soon because authentic Parisian restaurants with great food, reasonable prices, and engaging conversation are quickly disappearing. We will certainly be back!

An absolute, unexpected gem! We were thoroughly charmed by this hidden find with seriously delicious food. The 3-course main (beef and potatoes), cheese and dessert costed 23 euros — and it was worth every penny. At first, we were unsure what to expect, but the food was home-cooked fare made with heart. And with seriously the best flan I've ever tasted! The restaurant is run by a husband-wife couple who are hilarious and charming. We left with happy bellies and huge smiles on our faces! Cards aren't accepted, so be sure to bring cash. I highly recommend it and hope to be back one day :)

Amazing little spot. The restaurant is part of her home and she cooks you dinner 100% from scratch in her own kitchen. It was our best meal we had in Paris. This was the most authentic thing we found. Not a single tourist. (besides us.)
